I’m extremely proud to announce that the pilot for Phungus & Mowld has won BEST SCI-FI at the RED Movie Awards, May 2021.

This award is different for me, because it’s not a “best animation” award in a non-animation focused festival (which is easier to get I fathom, having little animation competition in these festivals), it’s a Best Sci-Fi award, meaning the story can hold its own against other sci-fi short films.

I know I’m not a great animator, though I can put together some passable artwork. However, winning an award in a category that looks at the film from the sci-fi genre angle in general gave me more confidence for my script writing and storytelling.
