About 9 1/2 minutes of the 22-minute pilot are in the can, but things are now accelerating since most assets I need are ready and I can churn out full scenes much faster than before.
I have also been busy finishing my pitching materials for the series, which is now mostly complete including info on locations, budget, and the current team I have assembled to produce the pilot as well as partners to collaborate with the complete one or more seasons. Finger crossed that this will eventually lead to something.
Patience is a Virtue
Once the pilot is done patience will have to be the greatest virtue. While I’ll be frantically contacting anyone who could be interested in financing full seasons of the series and or distributing it, I’ll also be signing it up for all the big film festival. This time around I’ll have to invest some money, because I’m not going to aim for any local mom on pop place, I’ll probably aiming at BAFTA and Oscar qualifying events only. I need some exposure to serious people. And why patience? Because unfortunately I have missed a whole bunch of windows to register for some of the bigger events, so there’s a good chance all the festival I can still register will actually be held next year in summer or autumn…
Meanwhile
But I’m not planning to sit idly while my pilot is riping on the shelves of these festivals, the plan is to keep on bugging other people about the series and to go back to Phungus & Mowld. Yes I haven’t forgotten about that series and I’m planning to reboot it, with very short episodes, a much higer production frequency and with the help of my co-writer Greg Wong, who has already helped improving the quality of my scripts for Shadywoods considerably – STAY TUNED!
